The Fossil Rim Wildlife Center's ten-mile drive allows visitors the opportunity to get right next to many animal species, and even feed them by hand. A few of the 50 species at the center that can be fed include giraffes, zebras, oryx and antelope as well as cheetahs and rhinos that are kept off the driving path. Other features offered are a cafe, a short nature hike, a gift shop and a petting zoo, all located about halfway through the drive. Due to its nature as an expansive outdoor habitat for many endangered species, the center is relatively isolated, about 55 miles southwest of Fort Worth outside of Glen Rose.
